The Michigan State University Center for Regional Food Systems (CRFS) has been working to advance farm to school in Michigan for over a decade. We provide farm to school outreach, resources, technical and funding assistance, research and policy education. We work collaboratively with regional and statewide partners to cultivate connections and programs across the state, including in early childcare and education environments. We have learned from practitioners and programs in action how to make local food purchasing work for both the buyers and sellers and take advantage of the diversity of agricultural products our state has to offer. Our collective farm to school work pushes the boundaries of what's possible through innovative programs like the MI Farm to School Grant Program, Hoophouses for Health, 10 Cents a Meal, Making Michigan Recipes Work and Cultivate Michigan. We seek to make farm to school the norm, not the exception, here in the Mitten State.
