Consultation Services for the USDA Farm to School Grant Program

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Farm to School Grant Program awards grants to support efforts that improve access to local foods in schools. The grant categories and award amounts vary from year to year based on the Request for Applications (RFA). Generally, these grants can be used for planning, implementation, growth, sustainability, and capacity building of farm to school and farm to ECE activities at your site or in your state.

The FY 2020 Farm to School Grant Program Request for Applications (RFA) is now open to applicants. With additional funding made available to the Farm to School Grant Program through the FY 2018 Omnibus Bill, the Office of Community Food Systems seeks to award up to $10 million to schools, school districts, nonprofits, State and local agencies, agricultural producers, and Indian tribal organizations to plan, and implement farm to school activities. Grants ranging in size from $20,000 to $100,000 will be available for approved proposals in FY 2020. Applications are due December 13, 2019.

NFSN advocated for the establishment of the USDA Farm to School Grant Program, and is committed to ensuring this funding reaches the communities that need it most.
